Meet the Maker of Chukar Cherries

Pam Montgomery

How She Started It:

Chukar originated on their Washington cherry orchard in 1988 with a commitment to real ingredients and craft chocolate. To this day, their fruit and nut specialties remain locally made, quality focused, and extraordinarily delicious.

People Are Always Surprised to Learn:

They make most everything they sell at their Factory Headquarters in Prosser, Washington, using local fruit and premium chocolate. Sun-ripened cherries travel just a few miles to Chukar headquarters, where they slowly dehydrate them in warm air tunnels with nothing artificial added, a process they have perfected over 35 years in business.

The dehydrated fruit is delicious on its own or coated in premium chocolate using copper panning kettles. Washington State is the nation's top producer of sweet cherries.

It's Special Because:

Chukar Cherries is committed to freshness and the use of wholesome ingredients without preservatives. Crafted in Washington State, their products showcase the rich flavors of the Northwest in every bite.

What to Try Next:

Their naturally dried Rainier cherries. Reader's Digest called them the best snack in Washington State.

Anything Else to Know:

They are family owned since 1988. Their cherry goodies and gifts are all-natural, kosher certified, and gluten free.
